Ghostwriting Prevention and Guest Authorship
Reliability in science is one of its quality fundamentals. Readers should be certain that the authors present the results of their work in a transparent, reliable and honest way. A proof of researcher’s ethical attitude and the highest editorial standards should be the disclosure of information about the contributors to the article (essential, substantive and financial contribution), which is a manifestation of not only good morals but also social responsibility. Therefore, authors of the article submitted to SJ GMU are obliged to disclose the contribution of individual authors to the article (including their affiliation and information about who is the author of the concept, assumptions, methods, etc. used for the preparation of the article), and the main responsibility for the given information is the author submitting the work for publication.
Any detected violations of ethics and academic misconduct such as ghostwriting and guest authorship will be exposed, including notification to the relevant entities (institutions employing authors, scientific societies, scientific editorial associations, etc.).
In case of disclosure of misconduct after publication, the information will be posted on the website and the article will be deleted from the publication.
We are dealing with ghostwriting when someone has made a significant contribution to creation of an article without disclosing his or her participation as one of the authors or without mentioning his or her role in the acknowledgements.
Guest authorship (honorary authorship) is when the author's participation is negligible or none, and despite that he or she is indicated as the author / co-author of the publication.
