Jantzen K.
Streszczenie
Over the last decades fish resources have declined to a minimum. Although fisheries management systems tried to limit the natural resource access, overfishing is still an ongoing topic. To conserve fish stocks, the alternative of culturing the fish has been experiencing an upswing. The case of cod plays a decisive role in fish farming as it is one of the main commercial fish which is overexploited. Because of the high demand there is a need to stabilize and ensure the cod fishery for future benefit. This paper deals with the progress of aquaculture since the early 1970s related to the conservation of the demersal fish cod in the North Atlantic fisheries. The central questions are: Which effects did build up aquacultures and have impact on the development of cod fisheries? Did aquaculture constitute a useful addition to recovery plans of cod stocks? What were the socioeconomic consequences of fish farming? In fact, the aquaculture of cod cannot substitute the fishing sector (yet or in the coming future). It is linked with employment creation on the one side but fishermen will still have to generate their own proceeds on the other. From the biological point of view special and costly conditions are required to culture cod. The demersal fish is only able to survive in cold waters and therefore linked to designated regions. Species appropriate for cultivation is not easy to achieve. It is a debatable point whether aquaculture can make a contribution to conserve the natural resource cod.

Streszczenie
The paper discusses the functional and spatial relations occurring in the transition zone, existing between a port and a city area. In order to identify and organize these issues, the determinants of the spatial development of port cities were discussed briefly, including inter alia: natural and historical conditions, spectrum of port’s transshipment, port’s transportation system, the ownership of a port and a port management model, the economic importance of a port for the city and region. The rest of the work describes a typical functional structures of coastal and sea-river port cities on the background of the concentric distribution of functions in a typical modern inland city. In the short resume some examples of the "good practice" in spatial management of port cities are given.

Streszczenie
In section 1, some aspects of time series forecasting are introduced. Two subsequent sections briefly discuss the application of multi-layer feed-forward neural networks for making predictions based on past data, and the automation of this process. The paper is concluded with a summary of an experiment consisting of running an implementation of an automated ANN based prediction system on examples of real life time series data, and basic conclusions drawn from some of the results of this experiment.

Streszczenie
This paper describes the author's concept of conducting simulation-based research on applications of intelligent agents in smart grid management systems. Section 1 introduces an intuition on applying AI in this emerging field. Section 2 describes a motivation for and some aspects of implementing an intelligent agent system in combination with a power distribution system simulator. Section 3 splits the project into phases, which accomplish specific tasks.

Streszczenie
Mint (Mentha pipperita) has been used as medicine and food product for many years. This work report the essential oil content in 8 different samples of mint from Tricity market, and its influence on sensory features of those products. The results showed that the peppermint oil content and the sensory features as: aroma of raw material, aroma and flavour of infusion in the investigated samples varied. The higher content of mint oil determines the higher sensory evaluation of dried raw material and infusion. Also, a statistically significant effect (p = 0,005) of producer for all tested parameters and positive and significant correlation between essential oil content and sensory features were found.

Streszczenie
Tradition plays an important role in many cultures, nations or religions. Some eating habits are changing, and function as stereotypes. The aim of this study was to examine the preferences of dinner in a group of students. The study was performed by direct survey among 188 students of Tri-City. It has been shown that young people enjoy traditional Polish dishes, but they are willingly reach for the dishes of other nations. Students choose dishes which do not require a large amount of time to prepare. You cannot say that the opinion about the Pole who likes pork chops, bigos and dumplings is a cliché. It is still alive in the nation culinary tradition.

Streszczenie
The hybrid technology is not only a current issue in the field of electric vehicles. Also in the area of ships there are some projects to replace the proven diesel mechanical drives by innovative drive concepts. In this paper the feasibility of hybrid propulsion concepts is examined for different types of vessels. The paper shows that there are definitely opportunities to save energy by using hybrid drive systems on ships. In some cases this can even return the much higher investment by savings in fuel.
